“California Oak Tree”painting, painted at Fort Hunter Legget, California.
“Adored” is the titled of this painting. The Model for this is my friend. She is a fantastic actor and is much admired by our local community.
The soft muted colors of this oil was used to convey comfort and warmth.
“Spartan Girls Challenging Spartan Boys”. The title is from an Edgar Degas painting that I admire. I love the rhythm created by all the legs and feet. I captured this image of my students at a prom.
“Train at Murphy’s California”, 2007 20″x 14” Watercolor
“Chevrolet Side Panel”, 2000, 14” x 21” Watercolor
This view gives just enough information to the viewer to be recognizable as a trunk. The surface is wonderfully textured. It remains me of the brush strokes of an abstract painting. This trunk’s location was in the Nevada desert. Collection of Jan Johnson
“Green Chevrolet Door”, 1999, 14”x 21” Watercolor. The side view of this truck shows the occurrence of the passing of time and records the human attempt to correct for it. The scraps on the door made by the original mirror and the makeshift new mirror provides evidence. Collection of Derek Dryman and Nancy Moscatello.
Chevy Grill, 2001, (front view), 2002, 14” x 21”
This truck had so much personality. It seemed to grin at me when I first encountered it on the streets of Virginia City, Nevada.
“Chevy Headlamp”, 2003, (3/4 view), 28”x36”
The largest of my watercolors, this was a great junkyard find. While painting the truck, I found the fender to be particularly voluptuous. The timeless design and rich texture of the truck components are pleasing.
“Chevrolet Truck”, 2000, (red, 3/4 view), 14”x19”, watercolor
The contrast between the dark shapes and the painted texture of this trunk is what drew me to this composition. I think it fits like a puzzle.
I love figurative painting! Painting people in place and time is what I love most. Oil on canvas 40” by 50”. Big Sur California.
