Household Crimes
This series of paintings was based on the second home of a woman named Ruth. Her second house was in Castro Valley. Ruth who was in her seventies and lived on a ranch in California’s Central Valley. Ruth was my friend’s landlady and I admired Ruth greatly. She used this home as a base when she came into the city and worked on her properties. She did most of her own maintenance and wasted nothing. This small house had a mix of many objects from the past and was to me very rich in history and content. I had just completed years of study in photography and painting. I just completed a watercolor class from Mel Ramos the renowned Oakland Pop Artist. Mel Ramos was passionate about watercolor and soon so was I.
